Weber Q 320 Portable Outdoor Propane Gas Grill Review

Great All-Around Grill

For me, grilling out is an essential part of summer.  Having friends and family over, cooking burger, hot dogs, and steaks, it doesn’t get much better.  If you’ve been around grills for any amount of time you’ve probably heard of Weber.  They are one of the biggest makers of grills in the industry.

Recently I got the chance to try out the Weber Q 320 portable outdoor propane gas grill.  I’ve always liked propane grills because of how much easier they are to clean than charcoal.  The Weber 320 grill is another hit in my book from Weber.

How portable is it?

The Weber Q 320 grill is at heart a portable grill.  But that isn’t to say it’s small.  At close to 80 lbs. the Q 320 isn’t something you’ll be taking everywhere you go.  Still I was surprised at how easy it was to move around.

The stationary cart design is well implemented.  If you need to move the grill, no problem.  More importantly if you want the grill to stay put it will.  The unit feels very sturdy when it is locked in place.  The worktables on each side are removable for more portability.  Another nice feature is the fact that the propane tank locks in place so that it doesn’t shift during a move.

What about cooking surface?

Some portable gas grills can be lacking in space, after all they are meant to be moved.  The Weber Q 320 provided more room than I needed.  2 burners heated 462 square inches of cooking space with an additional 69 square inches of warming rack space.  For those who want to get really technical the BTU per hour output is 21,700.

While I never tested out the maximum capacity of the Q 320 gas grill according to the website you can cook 36 hot dogs, 18 burgers, or 2 whole chickens with the available space.  That’s a pretty tall order and unless you plan on feeding a very large group at the same time it should be enough space.  At that point you may want to look into the larger Weber Genesis series grills.

How is it to assemble and clean?

Once I had the Weber Q320 gas grill out of the box and all of the parts figured out it took just under an hour.  Of course your time will vary as I’m sure many of you are handier than I am.

I like the split cast-iron grills.  Removing them is easier than one solid piece.  Washing them after use is more manageable as well.

The two main features that have been added are the warming shelves and the electronic ignition.  The electronic ignition runs off of a AAA battery and every time I’ve used it the Weber Q320 starts almost instantly

What’s the warranty period?

Weber offers a 5 year limited warranty on the Q 320 portable gas grill.

What are others saying about the Weber Q 320?

Currently on Amazon.com the Q 320 has 4.6 out of 5 stars after 162 customer reviews, which is pretty impressive.

Here’s a bit from a few reviews:

  • “Unless your cooking for an army, this is the one to get… “– Todd Poole
  • “Better version of the Q300″ – D. Thompson “maninthebooth”
  • “Great Grill!!”– Gochiso Gourmet
